The Oval was originally built for track and field games. From 1893 to 1907 the New England Intercollegiate Games were held here. Other events included
bicycle racing and Gaelic football games.
The first baseball team to use the Oval was the 1894 New England League Club and the last team was 1904 Connecticut League team the was transferred to Norwich, CT.
Currently the Oval is St. George's Cathedral, no signs of the park exist.
