For the 1914 season, a fence was erected and painted green. Player-manager, Fred Lake, intentionally left a spot in center field blank for a batters backdrop, even though merchants bought up space on the rest of the fence. For the 1929 season, the fence was rebuilt and the grandstand repaired.
