League Park

Fort Wayne, IN

Team: Cleveland Indians Date: June 22, 1902, August 31, 1902

Contrary to popular belief, this park was never called "Jailhouse Flats". The Kekionga team practiced on the area directly north of jail. Samuel Hanna platted the usable land in this area during his lifetime (died 1866), and the rest was left as a public mud flat. This entire area, not just where the park was, became know as "jail flat". Hanna's widow, Eliza, platted the remaining usable land into five plats. One of these plats would become league park.

This park was knocked down and rebuilt twice, the final time in 1899. It flooded in 1913 and was torched in 1930.
