Update: May 2007: Hennepin County paid $13.75 million for the parcel of land owned by Land Partners II. This deal was made possible by the peace making efforts of the Twins, as negotiations broke down among the other parties. Another hold up that was resolved when Burlington Northern Santa Fe agreed to move their railroad tracks off of the ballpark site.

Update: March 21, 2007: The Minnesota Twins have continued development of the new ballpark at the original site near the Target Center. The Twins have confidence that Hennepin County will work out the eminent domain issue over the value of the parcel of land owned by Land Partners II. The County has budget $13.35 million for the parcel while the owner's place a value northward of $21 million on it. Under Minnesota law condemnation proceedings can begin immediately with the specific price hammered out in court. The Twins had hinted that they would pick up the overrun.

Update: The Minnesota Ballpark Authority can not come to terms over the purchase price of the parcel of land required for the project. The delay in the project will result in a pushed back opening date and higher price tag, whether of not the stadium is built on the land next to the Target Center or another location.

The Minnesota legislature passed a proposal that calls for a .15 percent Hennepin County sales tax increase (excluding food, clothing, and medicine) to pay for a new park for the Twins. The plan calls for a $478 million ballpark, which will now be $30 million more because of inflation among materials. The Twins will pay $125 million along with all cost overruns and operating expenses. This park will be built in Minneapolis' Warehouse District.
