Shipley Field is home to the University of Maryland Terrapins. In 1982, Earl Weaver brought the Orioles here to play an exhibition against the University. The Soviet Union did the same thing in 1990. In 1994 lights were installed. Also, that year, the Bowie Baysox called this park home until Prince George's Stadium was ready to be opened. The Terrapins have had a winning record since this park opened.
